About Refuge Animalier
Our mission
To help every dog and cat owner in Quebec quickly find, close to home, the service their animal needs: emergency vet, family vet, groomer, boarding, dog park, store, breeder, trainer or adoption shelter.
Our goal is simple: no one in Quebec should lose precious minutes looking for an address or a phone number when their pet is sick, or spend hours comparing services when they just want to take good care of their animal.
Why this site exists
When a pet is in distress in the middle of the night or on a holiday, every minute counts. Yet useful information is scattered: clinic websites, incomplete directories, lists that are no longer up to date. Refuge Animalier was created to bring together, in one place and for all of Quebec, clear, verified information that is easy to use on a phone.
We want to offer this service first to Quebecers: in French and in English, with the regions, cities and realities of home. Our ambition is to become the go-to directory for dogs and cats in every region of Quebec, from the big cities to the smallest municipalities.
What you will find here
- Emergency vets: a dedicated page that uses your location so you can reach the closest clinic in one tap
- Ten types of services for dogs and cats, from clinics to adoption shelters
- A simple search by region, city and service, designed for your phone
- Practical articles on health, food, safety and the seasons, in the "Discover" section
How the directory is built
This site is built with the help of artificial intelligence, and each piece of information is then checked. It can still contain mistakes: if you spot one, let us know.
Each listing is checked against an official source (the business website or a public directory) before it is published. We do not copy text from other sites and we do not make anything up: when a piece of information is not confirmed, we prefer not to show it. Addresses, phone numbers and hours are reviewed regularly, and the verification date is shown on verified listings.
Hours can change without notice. In an emergency, always call the clinic before you travel.
An independent directory
Refuge Animalier is not a clinic, an emergency service or a pet business. We do not give medical advice: our articles inform, but they never replace the advice of a veterinarian.
Basic listings are free. Businesses that want more visibility can choose a "Featured" listing: it is a paid placement, always clearly labelled. This is what funds the site and lets us keep it free for pet owners.
